Layer Effects
Create layer effects
Mask Generators
These are tools that create masks procedurally.
- They are added over a black or white mask of a layer.
- They generate a procedural pattern.
- Each generator has adjustable parameters to control the result.
- You can combine them with manual painting or filters to refine the mask.
Intelligent mask
These are tools that automatically create masks based on the model information and its maps.
- They are added over a black or white mask of a layer.
- The generator analyzes the baked maps of the model and generates a black/white pattern.
- Each generator has adjustable parameters to control the result.
- You can combine them with manual painting or filters to refine the mask.
Fill effect
When a Fill Effect is added over a mask, it automatically fills it using a texture or pattern as a base.
Fill effect allows loading any available resource from the MatPlus library as well as local files stored on the hard drive. Procedural textures, grunge maps, patterns, or even previously painted maps can be used.
The user can modify parameters such as size, rotation, UV projection, tiling, and balance of the applied texture, adapting the result to the specific needs of the material.
It is possible to stack several Fill Effects within the same mask. This way, different textures and patterns can be combined using blending modes and opacity.
Paint effect
The Paint Effect allows editing a mask manually with brushes, offering control and flexibility to refine or complement masks.
Mask filter
Mask filters allow adjusting, smoothing, or transforming the result of an already created mask.
LinkMask
A LinkMask is created in a mask to reference its information in another layer.
LinkMasks only store the information beneath them. If changes are made to the lower layers, the LinkMask must be refreshed.
LinkMask has the Edge Detail option which preserves the edges of the normals so they can be affected by generators or other types of masks that use edges to generate textures.
That LinkMask can be called from a Fill effect.
